Dear Friends,
How has book publishing changed in the age of the Internet?
For starters, as online book sales have risen, so has online book marketing. As Jesse Baker reported last month on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered": "Long a staple of the film industry, book trailers are now standard operating procedure in the world of publishing....These tailor-made short video clips are meant to become viral and generate buzz about books....They're an attempt to catch your eye in the hope that you'll
remember the author's name — or at least the title of the book."
We've published several books, but we'd never before turned to a video camera to get out our message. However, to celebrate the debut of our brand-new book THE FLAVOR BIBLE, we recently set out into these uncharted waters — and the result is our first-ever book trailer.
You are hereby invited to be one of the first people in the world to see it! Check it out here:

In it, you'll meet three of the book's passionate advocates — including two of Manhattan's most talented young chefs as well as a celebrated choreographer who knows her way around a kitchen — and you'll pick up tips on how to use the book to become a more strategic and intuitive cook.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the creation of this video, including everyone at Little, Brown (and especially Carolyn O'Keefe), TurnHere producer Kelly Duane and videographer Chris Cassidy, and our photogenic and passionate readers: West Bank Cafe chef Joe Marcus, Forge pastry chef Jenny McCoy, and dancer-choreographer Jody Oberfelder (with a special thank-you to aspiring chef Jasper Oberfelder Riehm for his support).
The gorgeous photography is the work of THE FLAVOR BIBLE's photographer Barry Salzman, while the gorgeous location is the state-of-the-art kitchen at the Maison des Relais & Chateaux, at 10 East 53rd Street (bet. Madison and Fifth Avenues) in Manhattan. Enormous thanks to Brenda Homick for her kind assistance.
